Why we have spoken up
Pool-water standards shape real decisions.
Once published, AS 3633 could influence public-health guidance, tenders, contracts and the way pool-treatment systems are assessed. Enviroswim supports a rigorous national standard. We ask that every sanitation system including established chlorine systems and newer alternatives be assessed against the same clear, independently verifiable performance requirements.
Measurable health protection
Set clear microbiological targets for every pool-treatment system, including which organisms it must control, the required reduction and the conditions under which that performance must be demonstrated.
The same standard of proof
Assess each complete treatment system against the same performance criteria, under realistic pool conditions, using methods and results that can be independently reviewed.
Transparent decisions
Publish the evidence supporting each permitted treatment pathway and explain how the committee considered and responded to public comments.
Our position is straightforward: every pool-treatment system should meet the same rigorous, technology-neutral evidence requirements.

Why Enviroswim is contributing.
For more than 25 years, Enviroswim has developed pool-water treatment technology in Australia, supported by independent testing and practical operating experience. That experience informs our submissions. We believe every treatment approach, established or emerging, should be assessed carefully against clear public-health outcomes.
Standards Australia is a non-government company, not a public-health regulator. Yet the standards it develops can acquire quasi-regulatory force when used in legislation, guidance, tenders and contracts. Enviroswim is concerned that Draft AS 3633:2026 could shape pool-water practice without sufficiently visible independent scrutiny of its scientific evidence, committee interests and treatment of public comments.
