Enviroswim has been at the forefront of pool sanitation technology, continuously innovating and proving its superiority over traditional chemical-based solutions. It is essential to highlight the significant achievements and unparalleled efficacy of Enviroswim, which has been recognised and supported by both Federal and State governments in Australia.
Government Funding and Global Patents
Enviroswim’s journey began with substantial Federal and State government funding, which played a crucial role in our initial research and development phase. This financial support enabled us to file and secure patents worldwide, protecting our innovative technology and allowing us to introduce a safer and more effective pool sanitation system on a global scale.
Comprehensive Efficacy Testing
One of the cornerstones of Enviroswim’s credibility is the comprehensive efficacy testing conducted by NATA-accredited laboratories in Australia. These government-accredited tests demonstrated that Enviroswim not only met but vastly exceeded the efficacy requirements for pool sanitation. In stark contrast, chlorine, the conventional pool sanitiser, failed to meet these stringent government efficacy standards. This testing highlighted Enviroswim’s capability to provide a superior, reliable, and safer alternative to chemical-based sanitisers.
NSF 50 Accreditation: A Milestone Achievement
Enviroswim is proud to be the only Australian-made and owned sanitiser that has achieved NSF 50 accreditation in the USA. This prestigious certification underscores our commitment to excellence and the international recognition of our technology’s safety and effectiveness. For over 20 years, Enviroswim has consistently met and exceeded industry standards, proving its worth in a market dominated by chemical-based solutions.
Challenges and Triumphs in the Industry
Despite its proven advantages, Enviroswim has often been shunned by the chemical-based pool industry. However, the evidence is undeniable: chlorine is not only ineffective but also dangerous. The by-products of chlorine disinfection pose severe health risks, including reduced sperm count in adolescent males and asthma in children. Moreover, the Australian government has published, though not widely promoted, videos highlighting the potential use of pool chemicals as tools for terrorism, further emphasising the hazards associated with these substances.
Advocating for Change in Australian Standards
Currently, there is a review of the Australian Standards for pool sanitation (AS3633), aimed at incorporating new technologies that offer safer and more effective solutions. However, Enviroswim’s efforts to be heard by the review committee have been met with resistance. This stonewalling is particularly concerning given the review’s terms of reference, which explicitly call for the inclusion of safer and more efficacious technologies than the existing, dangerous chemical solutions.
Freedom of Information Request and Chlorine Efficacy Testing
When we requested scientific evidence to back up the registration of chemical pool sanitisers under the Freedom of Information Act, the response from the APVMA (the Australian government department tasked with registration and validation of pool chemicals) was that they were unable to provide this information because “the information requested does not exist.” This lack of data underscores the baselessness of the continued reliance on these hazardous chemicals. Furthermore, during our initial efficacy testing on our ES1 at Tweed Laboratories, a NATA-accredited Australian government laboratory, we requested them to carry out an efficacy test on chlorine alone. The results were unequivocal: chlorine failed to meet the required 4-log10 reduction of Pseudomonas aeruginosa within 30 seconds, only achieving this kill rate after 15 minutes.
Enviroswim stands as a beacon of innovation in the pool sanitation industry, offering a proven, superior alternative to harmful chemical-based solutions. It is time for the industry and regulatory bodies to recognise and embrace this technology, ensuring the safety and well-being of pool users. The overwhelming evidence against chemical sanitisers and the clear advantages of Enviroswim make it imperative that we continue to advocate for change and raise awareness about the dangers posed by traditional pool chemicals.
